This bulletin describes oil filter commonization for the 3.3L and 3.8L engine.

NOTE:
This information applies to models equipped with a 3.3L engine (Sales Code EGA/EGM) or 3.8L engine (Sales Code EGH).
DISCUSSION:
To accommodate additional vehicle lines, and clearance requirements, efforts are underway to commonize engine oil filters for the 3.3L and 3.8L
engines. Traditionally, you have seen the larger style filter for the above models but a newly designed (tea cup) filter is beginning to be used. During the
changeover period, you may see either the traditional larger style (pn 5281090) filter or the new tea cup filter on these engines. Filters should not be
replaced thinking the wrong filter was installed at the factory.
When future service is performed that will require engine oil filter replacement, use the standard filter pn 5281090 until the newly designed tea cup style
filter becomes available. Always consult the parts catalog for appropriate part number applications.
