14. Remove the tape or plugs from the opened refrigerant line fittings and the expansion valve and receiver/drier ports.
15. Lubricate new washer seals with clean refrigerant oil and install them onto the opened refrigerant line fittings. Use only the specified seals as they
are made of a special material for the R-134a system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
16. Position the rear section of the A/C liquid line (5) into the engine compartment and engage the liquid line to the retaining brackets located near the
center of the dash panel and at the rear of the receiver/drier.
17. Install the rear section of the A/C liquid line into the suction line tapping block (4).
18. Connect the rear section of the A/C liquid line and the A/C suction line (1) to the A/C expansion valve (2).
19. Install the nut (3) that secures the A/C liquid and suction lines to the A/C expansion valve. Tighten the nut to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
20. Lubricate a new O-ring with clean refrigerant oil and install it onto the opened liquid line fitting. Use only the specified O-ring seal as it is made of
a special material for the R-134a system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
21. Connect the rear section of the A/C liquid line (3) to the A/C receiver/drier (4).
22. Install the bolt (5) that secures the rear section of the A/C liquid line to the A/C receiver/drier. Tighten the bolt to 13.5 Nm (120 in. lbs.).
23. Lubricate a new rubber O-ring seal with clean refrigerant oil and install it onto the fitting on top of the A/C receiver/drier. Use only the specified
O-ring seal as it is made of a special material for the R-134a system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in
the vehicle.
24. Install the A/C pressure transducer (2) onto the fitting. Tighten the A/C pressure transducer to 5.6 Nm (50 in. lbs.).
25. Connect the wire harness connector (1) to the A/C pressure transducer.
26. Install the air cleaner housing and inlet duct.
27. On models equipped with the rear heating-A/C system, connect the rear section of the A/C liquid line to the underbody liquid lineSee: Underbody
Line.
28. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
29. Evacuate the refrigerant systemSee: Service and Repair/Procedures/Refrigerant System Evacuate.
30. Adjust the refrigerant oil levelSee: Service and Repair/Procedures/Refrigerant Oil Level.
31. Charge the refrigerant systemSee: Service and Repair/Procedures/Refrigerant System Charge.
Suction Line
INSTALLATION
CAUTION: Be certain to adjust the refrigerant oil level when servicing the A/C refrigerant system See: Service and
Repair/Procedures/Refrigerant Oil Level. Failure to properly adjust the refrigerant oil level will prevent the A/C system from operating as
designed and can cause serious A/C compressor damage.
NOTE: When replacing multiple A/C system components, refer to the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to determine how much oil should be
added to the refrigerant systemSee: Service and Repair/Procedures/Refrigerant Oil Level.
NOTE: Replacement of the refrigerant line seals and gaskets is required anytime a refrigerant line is disconnected. Failure to replace the
rubber O-ring seals, metal gaskets or washer seals may result in a refrigerant system leak.
