Flash: Intermittent Whistle Sound in Engine Compartment
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with new software.

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with a 3.3L engines (sales code EGV) built prior to February 5, 2008 (MDH0205XX) **and all 3.8L or
4.0L engines (sales code EGL or EGQ).**
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some customers may occasionally hear a whistle sound coming from the engine compartment. The sound may be coming from the purge solenoid during
vehicle operation.
DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (StarSCAN(R)) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify all engine systems are functioning as
designed. If DTC's are present record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.
If the above symptom/condition is experienced or can be verified, perform the Repair Procedure.
