Wheel Bearing: Service and Repair
Rear Hub / Bearing - Installation
INSTALLATION
CAUTION: Hub and bearing mounting surfaces on axle and brake shield must be smooth and completely free of foreign material or nicks prior
to installing hub and bearing assembly.
1. Position brake shield on wheel speed sensor and route wheel speed sensor cable through access hole in shield.
2. Install hub and bearing with wheel speed sensor attached and brake shield squarely onto end of axle. Make sure wheel speed sensor is positioned
toward rear of vehicle. Install mounting bolts (2) securing hub and bearing (1) to axle (3). Tighten the mounting bolts to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).
3. Install brake rotor (2) over hub and bearing (1).See: Brakes and Traction Control/Disc Brake System/Brake Rotor/Disc/Service and

4. Install disc brake caliper and adapter bracket (1) over axle and rotor as an assembly.
5. Install two bolts (2) securing disc brake caliper and adapter bracket (1) to axle. Tighten mounting bolts to 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.).
6. Position parking brake cable routing bracket to axle and install screw securing it in place. Tighten screw to 6 Nm (55 in. lbs.).
