Transmission Position Switch/Sensor: Description and Operation
Sensor, Transmission Range (TRS)
During the week of June 5, 1995, a running change was made to St. Louis built vehicles equipped with 41TE transaxles that incorporated a Transaxle
Range Sensor (TRS).
Model year vehicles 1989 to 1995 may also be effected by this change.
As replacement transaxles are ordered, new style components may be found on previous model vehicles.
The Transaxle Range Sensor (TRS) (which only applies to the 4 speed electronic automatic transaxle) replaces the backup lamp relay for actuating the
reverse lights. It also replaces the PRNDL or Transmission Range Switch and the Neutral Safety Switch or Park-Neutral Switch. The TRS provides
additional functionality as well.

The first gives additional information about the running change that effected the model year 1996 Minivans (NS) and as such can only be found by
selecting a 1996 Minivan.
