Radiator Cooling Fans - Intermittently Inoperative
NO: 08-40-96
GROUP: Electrical
DATE: Nov. 15, 1996
SUBJECT:
Intermittent/Inoperative Radiator Cooling Fans and/or A/C Compressor Clutch
MODELS:
1997 (NS) Caravan/Voyager
NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT AT THE WINDSOR ASSEMBLY PLANT (LETTER "R" IN THE 11TH POSITION OF
THE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER) BETWEEN OCT. 18, 1998 AND OCT. 21, 1996 (MDH 1018XX THROUGH 1021XX).
DISCUSSION:
Some of the subject vehicles may have an under torqued attaching nut for the left frame rail ground (G100 and G102) of the wiring harness. This
condition can cause the operation of radiator cooling fans and/or the A/C compressor clutch to become intermittent or inoperative.
Whenever the operation of radiator cooling fans and/or the A/C compressor clutch becomes intermittent or inoperative, the left frame rail ground should
be the first item checked.
To check the left frame rail ground nut for proper torque, remove the air inlet resonator to gain access. The nut is located below the battery tray. The nut
should be torqued to 9-14 Nm (80-120 in. lbs.).
