Fuel Pump Relay: Description and Operation
CIRCUIT OPERATION
When the ignition switch is in the START or RUN position, it connects circuit A1 from fuse 5 in the Power Distribution Center (PDC) to circuit
A21.
Circuit A21 feeds circuit F87 through the 9 amp positive temperature coefficient (PTC No.1) in the junction block. Circuit F87 supplies voltage to
the coil side of the fuel pump relay.
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) controls the relay by supplying ground for the coil side on circuit K31. Circuit K31 connects to cavity 74
of the PCM.
When the PCM grounds the fuel pump relay, contacts inside the relay CLOSE and connect circuit A14 from fuse 13 in the PDC to circuit A141.
Circuit A141 supplies battery voltage to the in-tank fuel pump. Circuit Z1 provides ground for the fuel pump motor.
