Checking Crankshaft End Play With Feeler Gauge

FEELER GAUGE METHOD

1. Move the crankshaft all the way to the rear of its travel using a screwdriver or other lever inserted between a main bearing cap and a crankshaft cheek

using care not to damage any bearing surface.

NOTE: Do not loosen main bearing caps.

2. Use a feeler gauge to determine end play

Journal Inspection

INSPECTION

Visually check the main and connecting rod bearing journals for wear, acuffs or scoring and replace if necessary.

Measure Crankshaft Journal O.D.

Measure Main Bearing I.D.
