the reading previously recorded from it to get the actual resistance of the motor circuit. The result should be 0.5 - 0.6 ohms.
3a.
If the result is zero ohms, a short exists in the motor or wiring. Disconnect the wiring connector from the cooling fan motor and repeat the
measurement. If the short still exists, it is in the wiring. Locate and repair the short. If the meter indicates an open circuit, the cooling fan motor is
shorted and the cooling fan module should be replaced.
3b.
If the reading is in the 0.5 ohm range, bounce and rock the front end of the vehicle. If the reading goes to zero ohms, an intermittent short exists.
Repeat the test with the cooling fan motor connector disconnected. If the short remains or returns when the vehicle is bounced and rocked again,
the short is in the wiring, repair as necessary. If the short no longer occurs, the cooling fan motor has an intermittent short and the cooling fan
module should be replaced.
4.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the cooling fan low speed relay. Use the cavity of the low speed fan control relay connector labeled C23 12DG and
battery negative (refer to Figure 1 and 3).

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves replacing the cooling fan module and A16 200R fusible link.
1.
Disconnect the wiring connector to the cooling fan motor.
2.
Remove the right and left retaining screws at the module upper attachment points.
3.
Move the module so its upper right mounting tab is disengaged from behind the A/C condenser mounting bracket. Remove the cooling fan module
from the vehicle.
4.
Install the new cooling fan module (PN 4644367) by reversing the previous steps. Be sure the upper right mounting tab of the cooling fan module
is positioned between the radiator and the A/C condenser mounting bracket.
5.
Replace the A16 200R fusible link using the procedure on page 8W-4 of the 1993 Front Wheel Drive/All Wheel Drive Van/Wagon Service
manual.
6.
Verify proper operation of the system.
