Remove the oil pan and gasket.

Rotate the crankshaft so the number 1 (forward) counterweight and number 6 (rear) rod journal boss is facing downward (Figure 3).

The forward counter weight will have either a casting parting line or a 15/16 inch drilled hole where the parting line is located (Figure 4).
