NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO ALL VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 6 CYLINDER ENGINE AND 41TE TRANSAXLE.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Transmission fluid has a burnt smell, internal transmission components show signs of high temperature operation.
Some NS-vehicles may be subject to operating conditions that result in extended high transmission fluid temperatures, such as heavy vehicle loading,
trailer towing, extended stop and go driving during high ambient temperatures, etc. Vehicles that are used for trailer towing must be equipped with a
transmission fluid auxiliary cooler.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the transmission is being repaired or replaced and the internal components show signs of high temperature operation (transmission fluid burnt smell,
hardened seals, etc.), perform the Repair Procedure.

Repair Procedure
This bulletin involves installing a transmission fluid auxiliary cooler.
NOTE:
ONLY INSTALL THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AUXILIARY COOLER AFTER THE EXISTING TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER AND
TRANSMISSION HAVE BEEN THROUGHLY FLUSHED.
1.
Release the hood latch and open the hood.
2.
Recover the A/C system refrigerant.
3.
Remove the bolts (one per side) attaching the fascia to the headlamp mounting panel at each side of the grille.
4.
Raise the vehicle on an appropriate hoist.
5.
Remove the front tire/wheel assemblies.
