Radio/Stereo Noise Filter: Description and Operation
RADIO NOISE SUPPRESSION GROUND STRAP
Some components used on the vehicles are equipped with a capacitor to suppress radio frequency interference/static.
Ground straps are mounted from the engine to each shock tower and from the body to the muffler. The ground straps should be securely tightened
to assure good metal to metal contact.
Capacitors are mounted in various locations internal to the generator, instrument cluster and windshield wiper motor.
Ground straps conduct very small high frequency electrical signals to ground and require clean large surface area contact On the RAS radio, the
ground wire is attached to a single blade on the rear of the radio All others are grounded through the main wire harness connector.
