Hood Latch Release Cable: Service and Repair

HOOD RELEASE CABLE REMOVAL

1. Release hood latch and open hood.

2. Disconnect hood release cable casing and cable end from hood latch assembly. Refer to Hood Latch Removal procedure in this section.
3. Remove left front door sill trim cover.

Hood Release Handle

4. Remove bolts holding hood latch release cable handle to the floor pan kick-up below the door opening.
5. Disengage release cable rubber grommet from engine compartment dash panel behind instrument panel.
6. Rout cable assembly through engine compartment toward the dash panel. Push cable through access hole in dash panel under the brake master

cylinder, into passenger compartment.

7. Separate cable from vehicle.

INSTALLATION

1. Place cable in position on vehicle.
2. Push cable through access hole in dash panel under the brake master cylinder, into engine compartment. Rout cable assembly through engine

compartment toward the latch.

3. Install release cable rubber grommet into access hole in dash panel.
4. Install bolts to hold hood latch release cable handle to the floor pan kick-up below the door opening.
5. Install left front door sill trim cover.
6. Connect hood release cable casing and cable end to hood latch assembly. Refer to Hood Latch procedure in this section.
7. Verify hood latch operation before closing hood.
