Sunroof / Moonroof Track: Service and Repair

NOTE:  The numbered call-outs in the following service procedure refer the numbered parts found in the exploded view diagram.

SUNROOF MECHANISMS

Mechanism parts are available individually or in service packages. When component wear is evident, or if several parts are to be replaced, it is
advisable to replace the entire left and right sunroof mechanisms with new.

When replacing both mechanisms, it is not necessary to disassemble the existing mechanism component assemblies. Use these assembled
components for reference when installing new parts.

REMOVAL

1. Remove sunroof glass panel.
2. Remove left and right glass panel springs.
3. Temporarily reinstall bolt (26) to hold trough guide link (2) to rear trough, and install nut (55).
4. Remove screws (59) holding glass guide bracket (19) to front guide plate pivot (3).
5. Remove screws (20) holding glass guide bracket (19) to slide retainer (12) and glass panel slide (13). Keep your finger behind slide retainer when

removing the forward position screw (59).

6. Separate glass guide bracket (19) from vehicle.
7. Slide glass panel slide (13) rearward off slide bushing (10).
8. Separate glass panel slide from vehicle.
9. Repeat Steps 3 through 8 for the other side.

10. Press the OPEN switch until front edge of front guide assemblies (1) are past track access plugs (33).
11. Remove screws (31) holding left and right track access plugs (33).
12. Separate track access plugs from vehicle.
13. Inspect foam tape on tracks or track access plugs, replace as necessary. Use only authorized service part replacement foam tape.
14. Separate wind deflector from vehicle.
15. Press the CLOSE switch until the front guide assemblies (1) stop at front of track.
16. Remove bolt (26) and nut (55) holding left and right trough guide links (2) to rear trough.
17. Remove screw (7) holding right and left trough guide links (2) to front guide assemblies (1).
18. Separate both front guide assemblies and trough guide links from vehicle.
19. Press the VENT switch until left and right cam slides (15), with link assemblies (9) and slide bushings (10) attached, are 0.5 in from the end of the

track.

20. Using a small, pointed tool, pull cable end ear sideways from cam slide (15).
21. Separate cam slide (15) from vehicle.
22. Remove rear water trough (25).
23. Using a small, flat-bladed tool, release guide shoe assembly's (17) retaining tang from track and slide shoe forward and out of track.

INSTALLATION

When reinstalling old parts, clean all components and tracks with mineral spirits and a clean rag, and wipe dry. Lubricate all components, and
tracks, with Mopar, Lubricant white grease or equivalent.

1. Place guide shoe assembly (17) into track and slide shoe rearward until it stops in the gate slot.
2. Install rear trough (25)
3. Position left and right cam slides (15) to sunroof tracks.
4. Insert left and right cable end ears into cam slides (15).
5. Press the OPEN switch until left and right cam slides (15), with link assemblies (9) and slide bushings attached, are approximately 7-8 mm, from

the front of the tracks.

6. Place left and right front guide assemblies (1) into the tracks at the front.
7. Install screws (7) to hold left and right trough guide links (2) to front guide assemblies (1).
8. Temporarily install bolt (26) and nut (55) to hold left and right trough guide links 2. to rear trough.
9. Press the OPEN switch until left and right front guide assemblies allow access to the track access plugs.

10. Install wind deflector.
11. Press the VENT switch until left and right front guide assemblies contact front of track.
12. Install front end of glass panel slide (13) onto slide bushing (10) and slide forward.
13. Place slide retainer (12) in position onto glass panel slide (13).
14. Place glass panel guide bracket in position to glass panel slide, and install screws (20).
15. Use the control switch to bump the mechanism fore or aft for alignment of forward end of glass guide bracket (19) to front guide plate pivot (3).
16. Install screws (59) to hold glass guide bracket to front guide pivot plate (3).
17. Repeat Steps 12 through 16 for the other side.
18. Remove bolts (26) and nuts (55) holding left and right trough guide links (2) to rear trough.
19. Install left and right glass panel springs.
20. Synchronize cables, see Sunroof Cable Synchronization paragraph in this section.
