Intermittent ABS Amber Warning Lamp Illumination

MODELS:

1995 (LH) Concorde/intrepid/Vision/LHS/New Yorker

NOTE:

THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH ABS (SALES CODE BRT). IT DOES NOT APPLY TO TRACTION CONTROL
EQUIPPED VEHICLES.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

ABS yellow warning lamp illuminated until next ignition cycle. Intermittent "pump motor circuit" Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) set. Normal power
assisted service brakes remain fully functional even when the yellow ABS warning lamp is illuminated.

DIAGNOSIS:

Using the Scan Tool (DRB III), Release 14 or higher, check for DTC'S. If "pump motor circuit" is stored in memory, perform the repair procedure
below. If other DTC's are present, diagnose and repair as required.

Pump Motor Relay

AR 4605700

Controller Anti-Lock Brakes (CAB)

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves inspecting the pump motor relay and CAB build date code and replacing as necessary.

1.

Inspect pump motor relay date code. A Julian date code has been imprinted on the inboard side (side facing engine) of the relay. If the date code is
between 1874 and 2334, replace the pump motor relay with a relay of date code NOT between 1874 and 2334.

2.

Hook up the DRB III. Erase the existing "pump motor circuit" DTC.

Using the "pump test" feature, run the pump test 25-50 times. Access the pump test as follows:

Check for DTC'S. If a "pump motor circuit" DTC is stored in memory proceed to step 5.
