Fog/Driving Lamp: Description and Operation
The fog lamps operate only when the headlamp switch is in the ON position and the operator has selected low beam operation. when the headlamps are
in high beam mode, the fog lamps will not operate.
Power for the fog lamps originates in Power Distribution Center (PDC). Circuit A3, from the PDC, supplies power to the headlamp switch. The A3
circuit is protected by a 30 Amp fuse located in cavity H. When the headlamps are in the ON position, circuit A3 is connected to circuit L2. The L2
circuit connects from the headlamp switch to the beam select switch.
Circuit L4 connects from the beam select switch and the junction block. This is the feed to the fuses that power the low beam headlamps.
The fog lamp switch is powered by the L44 circuit. This circuit is protected by a 15 Amp fuse located in cavity 16 of the junction block. Circuit L44 also
is the feed for the right low beam headlamp.
When the headlamps are ON, and the operator selects the fog lamps ON, circuits L48 and L39 are connected through the fog lamp switch. Circuit L48 is
spliced in with the L44 circuit. Circuit L39 connects from the fog lamp switch to the right and left fog lamps. Ground for the lamps is different for the
right and left lamps.
For the right fog lamp, the ground is provided on circuit Z1 and terminates at the right frame rail. For the left fog lamp, the ground is provided on circuit
Z1 and terminates at the left frame rail.
When the fog lamps are ON an illumination lamp in the switch is ON. Power for the lamp is supplied on circuit L39. Ground for the lamp is provided on
circuit Z1 and terminates at the Airbag Control Module (ACM) bracket.
