SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The door check straps may cause a snapping noise, and/or increased travel efforts after the latch has been released. This condition is most likely to occur
in cold ambient temperatures. Revised check strap assemblies have been developed to correct these conditions.

NOTE:

REAR DOOR CHECK STRAP IS USED ON EITHER REAR DOOR. "R" AND "L" MARKINGS SHOULD FACE UPWARD WHEN
INSTALLED PROPERLY.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves installation of revised door check straps,

1.

Close door glass.

2.

Remove door trim panel.

3.

Remove screws holding check strap to door end frame.

4.

Remove pin clip holding check strap to door hinge pin.

5.

Disengage check strap from pin on door hinge.

6.

Separate check strap from vehicle.

7.

Place revised check strap in fully extended position on vehicle.

8.

Slide the check strap arm onto the door hinge pin and press arm up into place.

9.

Install screws, **p/n K6504837AA**, to hold check strap to door end frame.
