CAB Location In Vehicle

CAB Removal And Installation From HCU

CAUTION: The external features of the Teves Mark IV-G ABS Controller Antilock Brakes CAB and the Mark IV-G ABS With Traction Control CAB
are the same. The CABs though are functionally different. If the wrong CAB is installed on the wrong brake system, the system will be disabled and a
fault code will be stored.

REMOVE

The CAB used on both the Teves Mark IV-G ABS and ABS with traction control, is mounted and electrically connected directly to the Hydraulic
Control Unit HCU assembly. To remove the CAB from the HCU for replacement, it is necessary to remove the entire HCU and CAB from the
vehicle as an assembly. There is not enough clearance to remove the CAB connector from the HCU with the assembly in the vehicle.
1. Turn vehicle ignition switch to the off position and remove the key.

CAUTION:  Verify that the vehicle ignition is off before removing the HCU from the vehicle.

2. Remove the HCU assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Hydraulic Control Unit Service and Repair, for the required removal procedure.

3. Remove the 2 CAB module to HCU assembly mounting bolts.
4. Remove the CAB from the HCU by pulling it straight out of the CAB connector on the HCU DO NOT TWIST.

INSTALL

1. Install the CAB module by pushing it straight into the connector on the HCU until fully seated.
2. Install the 2 CAB module to HCU assembly attaching bolts. Tighten the 2 bolts mounting the CAB to the HCU to a torque of 12 Nm (106

inch lbs.).

3. Install HCU assembly back in the vehicle. Refer to Hydraulic Control Unit Service and Repair, for the required installation procedure.
4. Bleed the air from brake hydraulic system. Refer to Antilock Brake System Service and Repair for the proper bleeding procedure. When

bleeding brake system visually inspect all line fittings previously disconnected for any signs of leakage.

CAUTION:  Heat shield MUST be installed when servicing of HCU is completed. Failure to install heat shield could result in a failure of the
CAB due to high temperature.
