SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Creaking or clicking noise from steering wheel area when pushing or pulling on the steering wheel, usually when entering or exiting the vehicle.
DIAGNOSIS:
Push or pull on the steering wheel rim without turning the wheel. Do not use excessive force. If a creaking or clicking noise is heard, perform the repair
procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves installing four tape insulating pads between the driver airbag module and the steering wheel.
1.
Record all radio station presets, disconnect and isolate the negative battery terminal.
2.
Remove the screws holding the speed control switches (two screws each) and move the switches out of the way.
3.
Remove the two bolts attaching the air bag module to the steering wheel.
4.
Lift the airbag module out far enough to install four tape insulating pads, P/N 4874017, to the contact points between the airbag module and the
steering wheel, as indicated.
5.
Install the airbag module, checking that the wires are not pinched.
