Sag Or Rattle At Rear Of Headliner
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves repairing or replacing the clip assembly at the rear of the headliner.
MODELS:
1998 - 2004

LHS/300M/Concorde/Intrepid
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The vehicle operator describes a sagging condition or rattle at the rear of the headliner.
The clip assembly retaining the headliner to the roof may be broken or not seated.
DIAGNOSIS:
Gently pull down at the center of the rear edge of the headliner. If the headliner is not attached to the roof due to a broken clip or separation of the clip
from the headliner perform the Repair Procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1.
Use the procedures outlined in Section 23 of the appropriate service manual or on TechCONNECT/MDS2 to remove the C-pillar trim panels and
rear passenger assist handles.
2.
Pull the rear of the headliner down and inspect the clip assembly in the center rear portion of the headliner.
3.
Remove any loose pieces of plastic.
4.
If the base of the clip is still firmly attached to the headliner and undamaged (only the spring portion of the dip is broken) install the replacement
clip, p/n 05127332AA, into the clip base attached to the headliner.
5.
Position the tip of the clip into the slot in the roof and press on the headliner until the clip snaps into place and secures the headliner. Skip to step
11.
6.
If the base of the clip assembly is loose to the headliner1 use a sharp knife to separate the clip base from the headliner. Be careful not to cut into
the headliner material.
7.
If the base of the clip assembly is broken but securely attached to the headliner, leave the clip base in place.
8.
Attach magnet, p/n 05134211AA to the ridge formation on the roof, rearward of the attach point of the original clip assembly.
9.
Apply a thin film of MOPAR Bond-All Gel, p/n 04467709, to the entire plastic backside of the magnet.
10.
Push the headliner against the magnet and hold it in place for 20 seconds.
