Oil Filter: Removal and Replacement
Engine Oil Filter - Removal
REMOVAL
NOTE: When servicing the oil filter, avoid deforming the filter can. Install the remove/install tool band strap against the base lock seam. The
lock seam joining the can to the base is reinforced by the base plate.
1. Using a suitable oil filter wrench, unscrew filter (2) from base and discard.
Engine Oil Filter - Installation
INSTALLATION
All engines are equipped with a high quality full-flow, disposable type oil filter (2). When replacing oil filter, use a Mopar(R) filter or equivalent.
1. Wipe base clean, then inspect gasket contact surface.
2. Lubricate gasket of new filter with clean engine oil.
3. Install and tighten oil filter (2) to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.) of torque after gasket contacts base. Use filter wrench if necessary.
4. Start engine and check for leaks.
