Models:
1985, 1986 and 1987 Model Cars Equipped With 2.2L Turbo-Charged Engine (Intercooled Turbo-II engine is not involved)

Chrysler Electronic Mail 8/19/88 to Dodge and Chrysler-Plymouth dealers on above subject.
Fuel leakage may occur on listed model cars at the connections of the short fuel hose between the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel rail. Cold
temperatures promote leakage due to stiffening of the hose. The condition is also affected by hose age and alignment. To correct it, a longer formed hose
must be installed.
Because of the large number of involved cars and a limited number of parts available, the recall will be implemented in several stages geographically by
Zones, with the coldest first. In each area, parts will be distributed to involved dealers before owner notification.
Note:
To ensure adequate parts stock for timely initial distribution in each region, dealer orders will not be accepted until the recall has been
launched in all regions.
The recall will be implemented by geographic area in the following order:

Northern -- Boston, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Milwaukee, Chicago, Minneapolis, Kansas City, Denver and Portland. (Early November)

Central -- New York, Philadelphia, Washington, Cincinnati, St. Louis, Dallas and Phoenix. (Late November)
^
Southern -- Charlotte, Atlanta, Orlando, New Orleans, Memphis, Houston, Los Angeles and San Francisco. (Mid December)
Corrective service consists of replacing the hose with a longer, formed hose and relocating the fuel pressure regulator to accommodate the longer hose.
Details of this service action are explained in the following sections. As an additional service aid, a videotape has been made to demonstrate the service
procedure. This feature is included in the November, 1988 M.T.S.C. program.

Vehicle List
Each dealer to whom involved cars were invoiced (or the current dealer at the same location) will receive a listing of them with this letter, arranged in
Vehicle
Identification Number (VIN) sequence. Owners known to Chrysler are also listed. The lists are for dealer reference in arranging for service of involved
cars.
Each Dodge or Chrysler-Plymouth dealer without a Vehicle List will receive an information copy of this letter for use in performing the service on
involved cars upon request.
Parts
Parts packages, PN C3940317, are being shipped free of charge to involved dealers in each geographic region at the time of recall launch in that area.
Each area dealer to whom involved cars were invoiced (or the current dealer at the same location) will receive enough parts packages to service 75% of
those cars.
