SUBJECT:
Hot Air From A/C Ducts At Start Up and/or A/C System Doesn't Cool After Extended Driving In Hot And Humid Ambient Conditions
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves replacing the HVAC Manual Temperature Control.

NOTE:
**This bulletin applies to vehicles built prior to August 12, 2005 and equipped with manual A/C (sales Code HAA).**
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
While operating the vehicle with the A/C on, the vehicle operator notices that after a vehicle start sequence there is a hot blast of airflow from the A/C
vents and/or the vehicle operator notices that after a vehicle start sequence that the doors inside of the HVAC unit appear to be moving or calibrating.
The vehicle operator may also notice a loss of airflow from the vents and becomes uncomfortably warm after a long drive in hot and humid weather
while operating with the A/C on.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the vehicle operator describes the Symptom/Condition, perform the Repair Procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1.
Remove I/P center bezel using the fiber stick to pry up the bezel without damaging the I/P padding.
2.
Disconnect electrical connectors for the A/C control, switch bank and clock if equipped.
3.
Remove the four 4 mm screws attaching the A/C control and remove the A/C control.
4.
Install revised manual A/C control, p/n 55111870AH. Tighten the screws to 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.).
5.
Connect the A/C control, switch bank and clock wiring connectors as equipped.
6.
Snap in the I/P center bezel to the center I/P.
7.
Start the vehicle. The HVAC doors will calibrate upon the initial start up of the vehicle.
