Flash: Transmission Control Module Initialize EGS-52 Procedure
NOTE:
THE StarSCAN must be operating at version 4.07 or higher when the module is reprogrammed.
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin provides the "Initialize EGS-52 and "Reset Adaptive" procedures. Some vehicles require erasing and reprogramming the Transmission
Control Module (TCM) with new software.

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with a 5.7L engine (sales code EZB) and a automatic transmission (sales code DGJ).
NOTE:
Vehicles built on or before June 12, 2004 (MDH 0612XX) require a TCM flash to enable the "Initialize EGS-52" feature.
NOTE:
The TCM "Initialize EGS-52" and "Reset Adaptive" procedures apply to any LX vehicles equipped with a NAG1 (A580) automatic transmission as
described below.
DISCUSSION:
A TCM "Initialize EGS-52 must be performed if any of the following conditions occur:

PCM replaced or flashed
^
TCM replaced or flashed
^
FCM replaced or flashed
If the TCM "Initialize EGS-52 is not performed a No-Start and/or the shifter display PRNDL completely illuminated on the instrument cluster and a MIL
illumination with P0602 - Control Module Programming Error/Not Programmed and/or P0700 - Transmission Control System (MIL Request) and/or
P1644 - Incorrect Variant/Configuration may result.
A TCM "Reset Adaptives must be performed if any of the following conditions occur:

Transmission Control Module replaced
^
Transmission Assembly Replacement
^
Clutch Plate and/or Seal Replacement
^
Electrohydraulic Unit Replacement or Recondition

procedure.
