SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Owners may perceive high brake pedal effort on subject vehicles due to the adjustment of the height sensing proportioning valve. The adjustment
procedure in Service Manual #81-070-4010, has been revised. Please make note of the following change in the service manual.
(1)
Lift vehicle with a frame contact hoist or other means so that the rear suspension is hanging free and shock absorbers are fully extended. (Leave
wheels and tires on vehicle since extra weight will keep suspension in full rebound position).
(2)
Loosen adjusting lever assembly fasteners "A" and "B" (see Fig. 3 on page 5-19 of the service manual).
(3)
Push valve lever "C" towards valve until it bottoms on valve body and hold it there.
(4)
Rotate adjusting lever assembly away from valve until all free play has been removed from the actuator spring. Temporarily tighten the adjuster to
prevent slippage.
(5)
Scribe a reference mark on the adjuster slot to indicate the lever position.
