6. Remove rear spring shackle attaching nuts and plate, then the shackle from the spring.
7. Remove front pivot bolt from front spring hanger.
8. Remove springs from vehicle.
INSTALLATION
1. Assemble shackle, bushings and plate on rear of spring and rear spring hanger, then install shackle bolt. Do not tighten nut at this point.
2. Assemble front spring hanger to front of spring eye, then install pivot bolt. Do not tighten nut at this point. Pivot bolt must face inboard
to prevent structural damage during installation of spring.
3. Raise front spring, then install four hanger attaching bolts. Torque bolts to 45 ft. lbs.
4. Raise axle assembly with axle centered under spring center bolt, then install U-bolt and washer. Torque U-bolt attaching nut to 60 ft. lbs.
5. Install shock absorbers and attaching nuts. Do not tighten nuts at this point.
6. Lower vehicle to floor, allowing full weight of vehicle on wheels, then torque the following fasteners: front pivot bolt, 95 ft. lbs.; shackle nuts, 35
ft. lbs.; 1984 shock absorber bolts, 50 ft. lbs.; 1985 - 87 shock absorber upper bolts, 85 ft. lbs.; 1985 - 87 shock absorber lower bolts, 80 ft. lbs.
7. Connect rear brake proportioning valve spring.
