Remove exhaust flex joint assembly, using the procedure outlined in the respective year service manual (Figure 1).

Inspect machined surface of exhaust manifold where seal ring contacts for tool marks or grooves. Emery cloth should be used to make it as smooth
as possible.
3.
The seal ring should be inspected and replaced if it is badly worn or not of the foil-wrapped type. Use replacement seal ring PN 4301350.

Install the cone washers, PN 6100233, over the bolt threads (Figure 2) after the bolt threads have been inserted through the pipe flange.
