REMOVAL
1.
Remove timing cover and rotate crankshaft until key is pointing up.
2.
Remove oil pump sprocket attaching bolts.
3.
Clean thread lock from attaching bolts.
4.
Remove chain sprocket and chain.
5.
Remove oil pump cover attaching bolts and then the cover.
6.
Remove split key from oil pump cover and remove retainer, spring and relief valve. Check condition of all parts. If any part shows excessive wear,
the complete oil pump must be replaced.
INSTALLATION
1.
Apply clean engine oil and install relief valve, spring and retainer into oil pump cover. When installing relief valve, open end must face spring.
2.
Install split key.
3.
Lubricate driven gear idler shaft with clean engine oil and install gear over idler shaft.
4.
Install pump cover and pump cover retaining screws and torque screws to specifications.
5.
Prime oil pump by squirting oil through hole below oil filter connector.
6.
Fill oil filter with clean engine oil and install on engine.
7.
After timing chains have been installed, install oil pump sprocket and chain. Apply Loctite to threads of sprocket attaching bolts and tighten to
specifications.
