SUBJECT:

Intermittent Speedometer Operation

MODELS:

1990 Dodge Monaco

SYMPTOM/CONDITION

Vehicle may experience an intermittent speedometer operation. This condition is caused by an inadequate speed sensor signal to the speedometer module
located in the instrument cluster.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1.

Disconnect the battery negative terminal.

2.

Remove the three nuts and two wiring connectors from the Engine Control Unit (ECU) and remove the ECU.

3.

Disconnect the eight way connector between the ECU wiring harness and the instrument panel wiring harness.

Locate the round insulation retaining clip under the heater/air conditioner housing (Figure 1).
