With ignition switch in the OFF position, disconnect battery ground cable and connect a digital voltmeter between alternator S terminal and
ground.

Disconnect output wire from alternator terminal B, then connect a DC ammeter in series between terminal B and the output wire,  (connect
positive lead of ammeter to B terminal and negative lead to the output wire.

Install a tachometer per manufacturers instructions, then connect battery ground cable.

4.

Place ignition switch in ON position and note voltage. The reading should be approximately battery voltage. If reading is 0, check for an open
circuit in the wire between alternator S terminal and battery positive terminal or a blown fusible link.

5.

Start engine, with all accessories and lights off. Run engine at 2500 RPM and read voltmeter, when alternator output current drops to 10 amps or
less, voltage should be 13.9-14.9 at 68°F or 13.4-14.6 at 140°F.
