Rear Door Inside And Outside Handles Do Not Function
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves adjusting the door latch adjustment screw.

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built before November 13, 2007 (MDH 1113XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
When trying to open a rear door with the inside remote handle or outside door handle, the door may not open.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the vehicle operator describes the above Symptom/Condition, perform the Repair Procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1.
If the door will not open, depress and let snap out the outside handle button until the door opens.
2.
Once the door is open, remove the tape on the door shut face that covers the latch adjust screw hole.
3.
Insert a 4.0 mm allen wrench into the adjustment screw and rotate the screw 180 degrees counterclockwise to loosen the screw.
4.
Remove the alien wrench and depress the outside handle button 3 times.
5.
Reinsert the allen wrench and tighten the adjustment screw to 3.5 Nm (31 in. lbs.). When tightening the adjustment screw it's important that the
operator doesn't put a down angle on the tool as a down angle can cause mis-adjustment of the latch to the outside door handle.
6.
Open and close the door several times using the inside and outside side handles to verify the adjustment is correct.
7.
Apply a seal, p/n 55276821AA over latch adjust hole.
8.
Repeat steps 1-7 for the other doors if necessary.
