Chrome Clad Wheel Creak
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves applying RTV to the wheels to isolate the chrome cladding from the aluminum wheel backing.

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with the following Chrome Clad Aluminum Wheels: 17 inch Chrome Clad - Bright Finish - Sales Code
"WPV", 20 inch Chrome Clad - Bright Finish, Sales Code "WP2" and 20 inch Chrome Clad - Platinum Finish, Sales Code "WPG".
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Creaking or clicking noise coming from wheels while vehicle is travelling less than 10 mph.
The sound may be more prevalent when turning in a tight circle.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the customer indicates that the condition is present, perform the Repair Procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1.
Raise the vehicle on a hoist and remove the wheels.
2.
Open the RTV, p/n 04883971, and remove foil seal. Replace/screw dispensing Nozzle back onto RTV Tube. Cut tip off nozzle, allowing for 3/16
to 1/4 diameter hole in nozzle.
NOTE:
Use only RTV part number 04883971. Other RTV sealants may contain corrosive chemicals which could damage the plating n the chrome clad
wheels.
