SUBJECT:
Flash: A/C Blows Warm Air Following Engine Start Or During Part-Throttle Acceleration
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with new software.

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to the above listed vehicles equipped with a 4.0L engine (sales code EGS).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The vehicle operator may notice two discrete conditions:
1.
After an engine start, the PCM may latch the state of the A/C compressor to OFF. This will result in the NC system blowing warm air.
Performance of A/C system may return to normal after several minutes of normal driving conditions or a engine restart (key cycle) after the engine
has warmed up.
2.
During a part-throttle acceleration (not WOT), the PCM will temporarily change the state of the A/C compressor to OFF. This may result in a
slight air temperature increase at the panel which can be noticeable in hot ambient temperatures. The performance of the A/C system will return to
normal shortly after the acceleration event has ended.
DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (StarSCAN(R)) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify all engine systems are functioning as
designed. If DTC's are present record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.
If the vehicle operator describes or experiences the Symptom/Condition, perform the Repair Procedure.
