Visually check the filter to assure that it is properly oriented to the fuel pump unit. Turn the pump over and sight through the notch in the bottom
of the flange (Figure 1). A correctly positioned filter will be directly in line with the two center rivets and the notch in the flange.

If filter is found to be out of location, realign to the proper position (see above) and no further service is required on EFI vehicles. Reinstall fuel
pump assembly in the tank, again being careful not to damage the filter and secure lock ring, and reinstall fuel tank on vehicle.
5.
If the filter was found to be in the proper location when checked in Step 3, proceed to replace the tank per the following turbo procedure.
