Seat Belt Reminder Lamp: Description and Operation
General System Description

System Operation

The seat belt reminder lamp gives a visual reminder to the vehicle occupants to fasten their seat belts.

The light illuminates for 4 to 8 seconds when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position.  Until the driver's seat belt is fastened, a warning also
sounds during the 4 to 8 second interval.

There is no control module in this simple circuit. See: Diagrams

Module/Description and Operation

Lamps (CCD)
The instrument cluster circuitry uses CCD data bus messages from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), Engine Control Module (ECM), Airbag
Control Module (ACM), and Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) to control the following lamps. They are actuated during the self-test procedure.

ABS lamp

Brake Warning - Controlled by CCD data bus messages from the Controller Anti-lock Brake (CAB).

Low Fuel Warning - Internally controlled by the cluster, not CCD.

Airbag Control Module - 23 Way

Seat Belt - Internally controlled by the cluster and by CCD data bus messages from the Airbag Control Module (ACM).
