RAM 1500 Truck 2WD V6-3.9L VIN X (1999)
6. Measure back (counterclockwise) 13 mm (0.50 inch) and mark the housing.
Aligning To The Second Mark
7. Rotate adjustment cap back (counterclockwise) with spanner wrench until hole is aligned with the second mark.
8. Install and tighten lock nut to 108 Nm (80 ft. lbs.). Be sure adjustment cap does not turn while tightening the lock nut.
PITMAN SHAFT OVER-CENTER PRELOAD
NOTE: Before performing this procedure, the worm bearing preload adjustment must be performed.
1. Rotate the stub shaft with a 12 point socket from stop to stop and count the number of turns.
