RAM 1500 Truck 2WD V8-5.7L VIN 2 (2006)
6. Hold pinion yoke with Holder 6719A (2) and tighten nut with torque wrench (3) to 292 Nm (215 ft. lbs.). Rotate pinion shaft several revolutions
to ensure bearing rollers are seated.
7. Measure pinion (2) Torque to Rotate with a inch pound torque wrench (1). Pinion Torque To Rotate is equal to the reading recorded during
removal, plus 0.56 Nm (5 inch lbs.).
CAUTION: Never loosen pinion nut to decrease pinion rotating torque and never exceed specified preload torque. Failure to follow these
instructions will result in damage.
8. If rotating torque is low, use Yoke Holder 6719 to hold the pinion yoke and tighten the pinion shaft nut in 6.8 Nm (5 ft. lbs.) increments until
pinion Torque To Rotate is achieved.
NOTE: The rotating torque should be constant during a complete revolution of the pinion. If the rotating torque varies, this indicates a binding
condition.
9. Install brake components.
10. Install propeller shaft.
