Low Pressure Sensor / Switch: Description and Operation
Fig 5 Low Pressure Cut-off Switch
LOW PRESSURE CUT-OFF SWITCH
The low pressure cut-off switch is located on the suction line and is wired in series between the heater-A/C mode control switch and the fin sensing
cycling clutch switch.
When the suction line pressure drops to 83 - 131 kPa (12 - 19 psi) the switch contacts open, which causes the Powertrain Control Module to
de-energize the compressor clutch relay which disengages the compressor clutch. The switch contacts will close again when the suction line
pressure reaches 207 kPa (30 psi).
The low pressure cut-off switch is a factory-calibrated unit. The switch cannot be adjusted or repaired and, if faulty or damaged, it must be
replaced.
