Hood Latch: Service and Repair

LATCH

REMOVAL

1. Open and support hood.
2. Using a grease pencil or equivalent, mark the position of latch on upper radiator support.

3. Remove the nuts attaching hood latch to upper radiator support (Fig. 3).

4. Disconnect hood latch release cable from hood latch (Fig. 4).
5. Separate hood latch from vehicle.

INSTALLATION

1. Position hood latch on the upper radiator support.
2. Connect hood latch release cable to hood latch.
3. Align latch with reference marks and install nuts attaching hood latch to upper radiator support. Tighten nuts to 10 N.m (7 ft. lbs.) torque.
4. Remove support and close hood.
5. Test hood latch and release cable for proper operation. If necessary, adjust latch.
