June 2001
Safety Recall No. 985 - Wheel Lug Nuts
Reference:
May 25, 2001 electronic mail (DMAIL) message on this subject.
Models
2001 (AB) Dodge Ram Van/Wagon
NOTE:
This recall applies only to the above vehicles equipped with five lug wheels built from May 11, 2001 through May 15, 2001 (MDH 051119 through
051519).
IMPORTANT:
Many of the vehicles within the above build period have already been inspected or repaired and, therefore, have been excluded from this recall.
IMPORTANT:
Some of the involved vehicles may be in dealer new vehicle inventory. Federal law requires you to stop sale and complete this recall service on these
vehicles before retail delivery. Dealers should also consider this requirement to apply to used vehicle inventory and should perform this recall on
vehicles in for service. Involved vehicles can be determined by using the DIAL VIP System.
Subject
The road wheel lug nuts on 212 of the above vehicles may not have been properly torqued. This could allow a wheel to loosen and cause an accident
without warning.
Repair
The lug nuts on all four wheels must be properly torqued.

No parts are required to perform this service procedure.

1.
Remove the left front wheel cover, if necessary.
2.

service completions and provide dealer payments.
