The throttle lever rod connecting the throttle lever to the fuel injection pump lever is adjustable.
CAUTION: Before adjusting the fuel injection pump throttle linkage, verify that engine is set at correct low idle speed. Refer to Idle Speed
Adjustments.
1. Verify low idle speed.
2. Disconnect throttle cable socket from lever ball stud on throttle lever.

3. Measure the distance between the center of the lever ball and the rear face of the cable mounting bracket.

Dimension should be 126.5 mm (5.0 inches.)

If not, proceed to following step.
4. To prevent damage to ends of linkage, attach locking-type pliers to the flat located on throttle lever rod before loosening locknut.
5. Loosen the lever nut. This nut is close to the flat.
6. Unsnap lever socket from lever.
7. Rotate the flat on the linkage rod (lengthen or shorten) to achieve proper linkage adjustment. Tighten nut after adjustment.
8. Snap socket to lever.
