NOTE:
This recall applies only to the above vehicles equipped with a 5.9L
Cummins turbo diesel engine ("D" in the 8th VIN Position) built at the:
>
St. Louis North Assembly Plant ("J" in the 11th VIN position) from July 22, 1996 through December 31, 1997 (MDH 0722XX through
1231XX);
>
Lago Alberto Assembly Plant ("M" in the 11th VIN position) from August 5, 1996 through December 31, 1997 (MDH 0805XX through
1231XX); or
>
Saltillo Assembly Plant ("G" in the 11th VIN position) from July 29, 1996 through December 31, 1997 (MDH 0729XX through 1231XX).
IMPORTANT:
Some of the involved vehicles may be in dealer used vehicle
inventory. Dealers should complete this recall service on these vehicles before retail delivery. Dealers should also perform this recall on vehicles in for
service.
Involved vehicles can be determined by using the DIAL VIP System.
Subject
The throttle control linkage joints on about 97,500 of the above vehicles may corrode and cause the throttle to bind or stick. This could increase the
truck's stopping distance and cause an accident without warning.
Repair
The throttle linkage rod ends and linkage ball studs must be replaced.
Parts Information
Completion Reporting and Reimbursement
Claims for vehicles that have been serviced must be submitted on the DIAL
System. Claims submitted will be used by DaimlerChrysler to record recall service completions and provide dealer payments.
