Evaporator Core: Service and Repair
WARNING: ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AIRBAGS, REFER TO AIRBAGS AND SEAT BELTS/AIRBAGS BEFORE
ATTEMPTING ANY STEERING WHEEL, STEERING COLUMN, OR INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPONENT DIAGNOSIS OR
SERVICE. FAILURE TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND
POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.
REMOVAL
1. Remove the heater-A/C housing from the vehicle, and disassemble the housing halves. Refer to Housing Assembly HVAC/ Service and Repair/
Procedures.
Evaporator Coil Location In Heater-A/C Housing (Upside Down)
2. Lift the evaporator coil out of the heater-A/C housing.
INSTALLATION
1. Insert the evaporator coil into the bottom of the heater-A/C housing.
2. Reassemble and reinstall the heater-A/C housing in the vehicle. Refer to Housing Assembly HVAC/ Service and Repair/ Procedures.
NOTE: If the evaporator is replaced, add 60 ml (2 fl. oz.) of refrigerant oil to the refrigerant system.
