Brake Shoe: Service and Repair
With 11 Inch Brakes
REMOVAL
1. Raise vehicle and remove rear wheel and tire assemblies.
2. Remove brake drums.

3. Remove primary (front) brake shoe return spring. Use brake spring pliers to unseat and remove spring from anchor pin.
4. Remove primary shoe hold-down spring, pin and retainers. Use brake spring tool to rotate retainers and disengage pins.
5. Tilt primary brake shoe outward. Then disengage shoe spring and remove primary brake shoe.
6. Remove adjuster screw, shoe spring and park brake strut and spring.
NOTE: Driver side adjuster screw has a right hand thread and passenger side has a left hand thread.
7. Remove secondary brake shoe hold-down spring, pin and retainers.
8. Pull adjuster lever and retainer out of secondary brake shoe. Then rotate brake shoe out and up and remove adjuster spring and secondary shoe
return spring.
