THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS.
DISCUSSION:
A change to the steering column, shift rod assembly, torque shaft, transmission lever (42RE only), and the gear selector indicator occurred between Jan.
21, 1997 and Jan. 30 1997. In addition, there was a minor re-routing of the headlamp and instrument panel wiring harness and canister purge vacuum
hoses to avoid contact with the location of the new steering column shift lever and shift rod. Components that changed are not interchangeable with
components prior to the change. The chart above identifies when the changes were implemented for each assembly plant:
