A. Inspect Front ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Wires

1.

Depress and hold the brake pedal using a brake pedal prop rod.

NOTE:

Keeping the brake pedal in the "applied" position makes bleeding the brakes faster and easier.

2.

Raise the vehicle to working level on an appropriate hoist.

3.

Inspect the right front ABS wheel speed sensor wire for damage due to contact with the wheel and/or tire. If the wire covering has been worn away
such that the copper wire strands are exposed, then the right ABS wheel speed sensor must be replaced.

4.

Inspect the left front ABS wheel speed sensor wire for damage due to contact with the wheel and/or tire. If the wire covering has been worn away
such that the copper wire strands are exposed, then the left ABS wheel speed sensor must be replaced.

NOTE:

Very few ABS wheel speed sensors are expected to require replacement.

5.

If neither front ABS wheel speed sensor requires replacement, continue with Section B - Replace Front Brake Hose(s)

If only one front ABS wheel speed sensor requires replacement, continue with Section B - Replace Front Brake Hose(s)

If both front ABS wheel speed sensors require replacement, continue with Section C - Replace Front Brake Hose(s) and ABS Wheel Speed
Sensor(s)

B. Replace Front Brake Hose(S)

1.

Remove the ABS wheel speed sensor wire from the clips along the brake hose.

2.

Remove the banjo bolt and disconnect the brake hose from the brake caliper.

3.

Disconnect the front brake tube from the front brake hose.

4.

Remove the center brake hose bracket fastener.

5.

For RIGHT brake hose assemblies, remove the upper brake hose bracket bolt.

For LEFT brake hose assemblies, remove the clip that retains the brake hose to the upper brake hose bracket and then disconnect the brake hose
from the upper bracket. Do NOT remove the upper bracket or disconnect the other brake lines that are connected to the junction blocks on the
upper bracket.

6.

Remove and discard the brake hose assembly.

7.

For RIGHT brake hose assemblies, install the upper brake hose bracket on the frame rail. Tighten the bolt to 115 in-lbs (13 Nm)

For LEFT brake hose assemblies, connect the brake hose to the upper bracket and then install the brake hose-to-bracket clip.

8.

Connect the front brake tube to the front brake hose Tighten the fitting to 185 in-lbs (21 Nm)

9.

Install the center brake hose bracket bolt. Tighten the bolt to 230 in-lbs (26 Nm)

10.

Using two of the supplied copper gaskets, connect the brake hose banjo fitting to the brake caliper. Tighten the banjo bolt to 18 ft-lbs (24 Nm)

NOTE:

Make sure that the old copper gaskets were removed from the brake caliper and banjo bolt.

11.

Install the ABS wheel speed sensor wire into the clips along the brake hose.
