Flash: Surge, Lack of Power in 3rd Gear, and No 3/4 Upshift After 4/3 Downshift
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the JTEC Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with new software (00Cal19 and 01Cal18).

2000 - 2001
(BE/BR) Ram Truck
NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO 2000 AND 2001 (BE/BR) RAM TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH A 5.2L, 5.9L, OR 8.0L ENGINE AND
CALIBRATION LEVEL PRIOR TO (LESS OR LOWER THAN) THOSE LISTED IN THE OVERVIEW ABOVE.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some vehicles may exhibit one or more of the following performance conditions:
1.
Perceived lack of power in third gear due to converter lock-up.
2.
Surge after lock-up (40-45 m.p.h.) This reprogramming raises torque converter lock-up speed to 52 m.p.h.
NOTE:
# 2 ABOVE APPLIES ONLY TO THE BE/BR 1500 4X4 EQUIPPED WITH THE 3.55 REAR AXLE.
3.
Transmission does not upshift from 3rd gear after a 4/3 downshift. (Most often noticed when cruise control is engaged.)
