RAM 2500 Van V6-239 3.9L Magnum (1995)
Brake Rotor/Disc: Service and Repair
1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel.
2. Remove caliper as outlined under Brake Caliper/Service and Repair.
NOTE: It is not necessary to disconnect brake line from caliper, but caliper must be supported at all times to prevent brake line damage.
3. Remove grease cap, cotter pin, nut lock, hub nut, thrust washer and outer wheel bearing, then lift rotor off spindle.
4. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Pack wheel bearings with suitable high temperature grease; if inner bearing is removed for packing, replace inner grease seal.
b. To adjust wheel bearing, torque hub nut to 240-300 inch lbs. with rotor rotating, loosen nut completely and retighten only finger tight. Bearing
end play should be 0.0001-0.0030 inch.
c. After assembly is complete, apply brakes several times to ensure brake pads are properly seated in caliper.
