Fuel Filter: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Purge fuel system.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
Rubber Shield Below Regulator
3. Remove rubber shield below pressure regulator.
Fuel Filter
4. Disconnect fuel inlet high-pressure tube (fitting) at both the fuel pressure regulator and manual shut-off valve. Clean area around both fittings and
tube before removal.
5. Remove tube fitting from fuel pressure regulator. Fitting will be under a small spring pressure.
6. Remove filter retention spring, filter and 0-ring. Do not allow any foreign material to get into the fuel pressure regulator opening.
INSTALLATION
1. Clean tube fitting and filter retention spring.
2. Install 0-ring, filter and filter spring into fuel pressure regulator.
3. Apply a small amount of thread sealant to the pipe threads only of tube fitting. Be extremely careful not to get any of thread sealant into any fuel
system opening. Use only an anaerobic thread sealant containing Teflon. Install tube fitting to pressure regulator.
4. Install fuel high-pressure tube to pressure regulator and manual shut-off valve. A Go No-Go gauge tool must be used to check tube fittings after
tightening.
5. Check fittings/tubes for gas leaks.
6. Install rubber shield.
