Wheels - Wheel Balance Weight Selection

NO: 22-04-94

GROUP: Wheels & Tires

DATE: Sep. 23, 1994

SUBJECT:
Wheel Balance Weights

MODELS:

1994 - 1995 (AB) Ram Van/Wagon
1994 - 1995 (AN) Dakota/Dakota Cab & Chassis
1994 - 1995 (BR) Ram Truck

DISCUSSION:

When balancing steel wheels, care should be used to select the correct type of balancing weights. The steel used in the manufacture of truck wheels is
thicker than that used for passenger car and multipurpose vehicle wheels. The balance weights used in production differ depending on whether they are
used for truck or passenger applications. The type of weight Chrysler uses can be identified by inspecting the weight. Passenger car weights have a "P"
cast into the center of the face of the weight. Truck weights have a "T" cast into them. When balancing wheels, be sure to use the appropriate type
weight.
